José Blanco

José specialises in government relations, public affairs and strategic engagement with political, economic and social stakeholders. With more than two decades of experience at the highest levels of public decision-making in Spain and Europe, he has held senior roles across government, parliament and party leadership.

In 2019, he founded a public affairs consultancy, advising companies, institutions and organisations on navigating complex policy and regulatory environments. José has held senior roles across government, parliament and party leadership, including serving as Minister of Public Works (2009–2011) and Government Spokesperson in 2011, where he chaired the European Council of Transport Ministers and led responses to major international crises.

He also served for more than two decades as Senator and Member of the Spanish Congress, and later as a Member of the European Parliament, focusing on industry, innovation, energy and technological development. Within the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE), he held senior leadership positions, including Secretary of Organisation and Deputy Secretary-General, and served as Secretary-General of the PSOE in Lugo.
